On December 7th, Villa Collet in Aÿ hosted the 2015 Champagne Collet Chef's Book Award ceremony. Ten renowned chefs, nine Michelin stars, and five months of competition culminated in Chef Eric Guérin being crowned the winner . As in previous years, the competing chefs presented their culinary works in turn during ten dinners at the Table Ronde restaurant in Paris. The jury of professionals, chaired by Olivier Charriaud , Managing Director of Champagne Collet, assessed the participating chefs' commitment to sharing their knowledge and demonstrating authenticity through the presentation of the book and some of its recipes.
The book Migrations, published by La Martinière (€32), is an invitation to travel, an initiatory journey into the world of Chef Guérin, the Robinson Crusoe of gastronomy on his island of Fedrun in the heart of the Brière Regional Natural Park. Far more than a traditional cookbook, Migrations is a travelogue, where the chef speaks from the heart and recounts the evolution of his cuisine through his travels, encounters, and emotions. The book is remarkably illustrated with photographs by Matthieu Cellard and photos of the chef himself, taken during his travels.Through these pages, I hope to take you on my journey, into my secret garden, where I draw the strength that I translate in my own way into cooking. (…)”, said Eric Guérin.
